While Aaron was away at deer camp over the weekend the boys and I headed west to visit my family. Driving back home yesterday I knew we were in Wisconsin when I saw several vehicles driving on the highway with deer strapped to their cars and hooves flailing.
The long weekend flew by as it always does and although saying goodbye is never easy, I left with a heart filled with gratitude for the time and memories we had. Such a blessing to be able to visit with relatives whom we don’t often see. We also were able to meet my new beautiful baby niece, which made the boys and I even more excited for the arrival of our little girl in just 11 weeks!
It was the first time I had made the drive by myself with the boys. They do great traveling and were completely exhausted on the way home, which made for a quiet ride and me fighting to stay awake. As much as we enjoy our visits and always look forward to them the boys were so excited to get home and see daddy!
With Thanksgiving in just a few short days I am trying hard this week to focus on gratefulness and praise for the abundance of blessings from God. It often seems easy to get wrapped up in the daily inconveniences, stresses and small crosses, but all I need to do is take a few minutes to silence my mind and heart and see the wonders our God has done!
