School’s out for the summer!! Lots of whoops, hurrahs and jumps for joy on the final day of school. It was truly a school year like none other and what an accomplishment to have persevered through the changes and the unknown. Wearing masks and weeks of virtual learning. I am so incredibly proud of Kolbe and Ethan!!
For me the end of the school year always brings a mix of emotions. Excitement looking forward to a summer of memories together. Sadness that they are a year older and time continues to rapidly tick by. A bit of anxiety as we all transition into new schedules and routines and adjust to all being together.
Last year, because of COVID the older boys had already been home for three months before summer even began. The precursor to summer was stressful with at home learning and trying to juggle all of the school deadlines, that I think it left us exhausted before we saw the end of May. Also, there were no camps or activities and baseball was very limited.
This year we are choosing not to do a lot of camps, with our evenings and weekends already so busy with baseball. Making lots of time for memories and togetherness and taking out the hassle and constant running at least during the day anyways. It also provides ample opportunity for sibling bonding, which is one thing I miss about not hoemschooling.
One week down, the slip n’ slide has been used almost daily, the laundry quadrupled over night and we have set a record for how fast our family can consume a watermelon.
Exciting news, I am taking on some part time writing starting this summer, stay tuned for more. How I will fit that in between juggling five kids is yet to be figured out as Briella seems to have an automatic alarm that wakes her up as soon as I begin writing.
