I promise I have not abandoned the blog, although you may have noticed a bit of a fade in my writing habits. Summer is flying by and as you can see the blog has taken a brief backseat to the sunshine and summer fun.
We just returned from a vacation with my family at the lake celebrating over the 4th of July. I am not sure how much history was imparted as we talked to our sons about what the 4th of July is. Although they now know that it includes fireworks, flags, a party and America.
Spending time at the lake is always a time I look forward to every year starting in January and even more so this year as we were able to share it with our sons. To have them be a part of and share in one of my favorite memories as a child.
As my brothers and I entered middle school and high school the family vacation destination became spending a week at a cabin. Relaxing at the lake, spending time as a family with no schedules to follow, sharing laughter and making memories.
Although it took a little getting used to the water I am fairly certain they enjoy it as much as their mother. They were brave little men, willing to try new adventures even when they seemed a little scary to start with. From riding the jet ski, tubing and swimming. Of course they also loved playing with their cousins and melted my heart as they all hugged each other good bye when we left.

So awesome! We also spent the 4th of July on the lake up north with family. I also grew up on the lake. It reminded me how important it is to me that my children are exposed to nature and love it like I do! Makes me think about Pope Francis’ new encyclical (which I haven’t read, but I’ve heard about), Laudate Si. God made this beautiful world for us to care for and enjoy. I am so thankful for the opportunity to just enjoy his creation. Praise God!
