I love trying seasonal recipes, but with a new babe in tow I haven't gotten that ambitious this Fall as some nights feel like a scramble just to prepare dinner. I have been scouring the internet for a caramel apple pie recipe, but have yet to find one that meets the craving. I may be heading to our local bakery soon to pick one up, because theirs is hands down the best! So far we have substituted the pie for caramel apples, which the boys love. I used this recipe super easy, but would do more apples and less caramel on each, because once it cools and thickens it is a little too sweet. We also got creative ... view the post
Motherhood at Its Finest
1. Call us lazy, but pumpkin carving didn't happen this year. Instead we discovered these great foam stickers and were done in 20 minutes and with no mess. Next year we will step up our game. Putting it in writing to hold myself to it. 2. We attempted family pictures last weekend, after being rained out the Sunday before. A friend told me I was brave doing an afternoon photo shoot, I guess my rookie motherhood didn't quite understand until we were left trying every bribe in the book for the 21 month old! What I thought was a complete disaster actually pleasantly surprised me getting more than one picture of Grace ... view the post
The Grand Entrance (continued)
Thought I wouldn't keep you in suspense too long, although we know how the story ends! Providing the link in case you missed part 1 and want the details. Around 2:00pm the doctor came in and suggested we start pitocin seeing my body wasn't getting things moving on it's own. I was nervous, I guess more having a hard time putting my trust in the doctor. My doctor was out of town and all of the possible dangers of having a VBAC were racing through my head as I had to sign multiple waivers that morning. Pitocin it was, hoping it wouldn't take much and baby would be here in no time. The minutes turned to hours and ... view the post
The Grand Entrance
Finally getting around to Caden's birth story. I will try to keep it contained in one post so it doesn't become shy of a novel. I was certain that this baby was going to come early especially with my progesterone levels never elevating nearly as high as my doctor would have liked to have seen. With that in mind I started prepping early, making freezer meals in June and purchasing baby supplies and packing bags in July. Little did I know that this guy was going to be almost an entire week late, making the pregnancy seem like it lasted forever going 7 weeks longer than I did with Grace. Fast forward to 40 weeks, ... view the post
Dancing Before God
Caden is officially one month old, brings tears to my eyes to type that as did it to put away the extra newborn diapers and newborn clothes that he only fit into for 3 weeks! He is literally growing like a weed right before my eyes. I can't believe how fast his first month of life went! I am begging time to slow down and trying not to allow piled up laundry and a messy house to take away my time from holding him every chance I get. Allowing myself some extra slack when I feel like I should have it all together. Even if it means freezer pizza for the third time in a week, pulling a pair of uniform pants out of the ... view the post
