We participated in the annual Packers 1K kids run again this year, it seems to becoming a tradition. The boys love it and Grace has now been inaugurated as an official Packer's fan. I guess this picture gives it away that I am not a native, while the rest of the family donned their Packer attire. The boys decided they are getting me a Packer shirt for Christmas. Last year Aaron pushed me in a wheel chair while I was on bed rest and this year I pushed a stroller with our 6 month old! Amazing how much changes in one year. Filled with gratitude. Grace's first medal and her only thought, does this make a good ... view the post
7 Takes, The Little Things
The week goes by so quickly and it's easy to get caught up in the daily grind. Linking with Kelly and looking back on the little things. 1. Waking up to my coffee already brewed by my 5 year old and not in a Keurig he knows how to do it the old fashioned way. One observant little boy or one coffee loving mom. I was so impressed he even got the grounds to water ratio right. Loving my little barista! 2. While we were sleeping the boys also took to making us some homemade pancakes from scratch. Their very own recipe complete with trail mix, oats, sesame stix, walnuts and raisins and a bit of flour! 3. ... view the post
Learning to Fight
One year ago this week I was put on bed rest, which I thought would be a couple of short weeks ended up turning into a long eleven. It was one of the most difficult things I have had to do, physically, mentally and emotionally. I remember the morning so vividly and the feelings that accompanied it. I thought I had lost her, my worse fear coming true again. Trying to formulate the words in my mind to explain to our sons what had happened as they saw me overcome with tears as we drove to the doctor. As incredibly grateful as I was to see a beating heart that morning I was equally anxious about having to go on bed ... view the post
Facing Poverty
I have seen the face of poverty many times throughout my life. I traveled to Guatemala multiple times for mission work in high school. Daily walked by the homeless on the streets of Washington D.C. in college. While we stayed in our Americanized hotel in Ghana people were outside the hotel gate who had nothing. Yes, I have seen the faces many times. Yet every time I go back to my comfortable way of life. A beautiful house, a fridge filled with food, hot water for bathing and clean water for drinking. I get caught up in the day to day activities and soon forget. The food in the fridge may go low and I complain about ... view the post
Life at the Lake
I am still recovering from a six day vacay away at the lake. Late nights, laughs and a 7 hour drive home! The time went by way too fast and saying bye to family is never easy to do with my boys shedding a few tears on the way home. Grateful for the time we had and happy the boys love it as much as I do. Being with family is something I always look forward to and enjoy. Living further away makes me treasure the time all the more as it always seems so short. In a blink of an eye we went from little kids playing together to now married with kids of our own. It was nice to have a week to relax, not worrying about ... view the post
