I found this recipe from Kraft a few years back and it is a favorite seasonal treat! I usually only make this dip once or twice a year, saving it for the lovely fall months of October and November. It's a quick and simple dip for last minute entertaining. Plus it's served hot, perfect for those colder days. I usually serve it with pita chips, but it can also be served with crackers. Ingredients: 1 tub (8 or 10 oz.) 1/3 less fat cream cheese 2 Tbsp. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice 1 apple, chopped and divided 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1 Tbsp. chopped pecans (I like to add more ... view the post
When the Saints Go Marching In
This weekend was filled with many first for the boys. First Halloween and first All Saints Day, both accompanied by a lot of candy, treats and fun! We were not sure if they would get into the whole trick or treating scene or be willing to go up to people's doors, but when candy was involved they made a run for it. I loved how some of our neighbors said they had been waiting for the boys and had extra treats for them. It was a cold, rainy evening so once around the block and they had their fill. Amazing how much candy accumulates in just 30 minutes! Also amazing how sweet they are wanting to share their candy ... view the post
Adoption Talk
With tomorrow already the start of November it also marks the beginning of National Adoption Month. To kick it off I thought I would share a link to an interview I did this past week on Relevant Radio's On Call. http://relevantradio.streamguys.us/OC%20Archive/OC20151029.mp3 I was honored to be a part of the conversation on adoption. Something I don't think can be talked about enough. Although adoption is becoming more common there are still stigmas and prejudices associated with it especially towards families who choose to build their family this way. Adoption has blessed our family x2 and my husband and I are ... view the post
Still a Rookie
We are just about to the 10 month mark of being a family!! I am constantly amazed at how well our sons have adjusted and how our family has molded together. Every month I look back and am in awe of everything new they are learning and all that I have to learn yet. Still after 10 months I am finding out I am still a rookie at all of this. I realize I have said this before, but it seems like our sons have been in our lives forever not just 10 months. They have stolen my heart and it will never be the same. Life seems so natural, that I easily forget the reality of how short 10 months really is. From not ... view the post
Pumpkin Time
Today I am finding myself recovering from a fun-filled weekend visit with family. Sneaking in a two hour nap while Aaron plays football outside with the boys. I sure can tell my pregnant body needs more sleep either that or a sure sign I am getting old struggling to stay up until 12:30am. This past weekend we introduced the boys to a few fall themed activities and they loved it, soaking it all in. Although the weather was a bit chilly and windy they weren't bothered a bit, except by the smell in the barn while looking at the animals! Face painting, hot chocolate, train rides, hay rides and pumpkins. They ... view the post
