...at home, with mom as the teacher! I am the first to admit I never ever ever thought I would homeschool or be the homeschooling mom, never. I had decided long before having children that it wasn't for me, I wasn't cut out for the job and it wouldn't suite our lifestyle. It all changed as we started the process to adopt older children and I couldn't wrap my mind around sending them to school all day, every day after only being home for months. After a lot of thinking, praying, reading and discussing, my husband and I knew without a doubt what would be best for our sons at this point in life, ... view the post
So Long Summer
Hard to believe that summer is already winding down and will soon come to an end. Although we didn't have much set in stone on our calendars at the beginning of June our weekends filled up fast, but with activities that were relaxing and left us refreshed. Family get-togethers, grilling out with friends, picnics, swimming, days at the park, baseball games, vacation at the lake. I admit I was pretty bitter when I found out I would be on bed rest during the summer months, now going on six weeks. Fortunately, we didn't have much more planned during the six weeks that we weren't able to do except a camping trip, ... view the post
The Things They Say
Since there has been a lot of questions from the boys about the new baby I thought I would include some of our recent conversations. I love how little minds think! Kolbe: How does the baby come out? Me: (slight hesitation) K: Your belly will just open up and then you press a button and it will go back together. Ethan: What's in your belly? Me: You know, a baby. E: Hmm...interesting. Kolbe frustrated that some of his clothes are getting too small. Me: It's a good thing buddy, it means you are growing. K: Well, we'll see. E: Will the baby have diapers on when it comes out? Me: No, the baby won't ... view the post
Turning Five
My little man turned 5!! I admit I get a little teary eyed looking back at pictures from when he first came home seven months ago. Truly amazing to have seen how much he has grown and matured, not to mention watch his little personality come to life. He comes across shy and reserved, but he is not afraid to bust a move and shake his hips when just around mom and dad. Not to mention his myriad of facial expressions. He daily has us laughing out loud and is always making us smile. Sure to be voted the family clown! Timid and quiet at times, he observes and just soaks everything in. At the same time he is a ... view the post
Baptism Day!
This past weekend our sons were baptized!! They had been counting down to this day, literally and were beyond excited for it to finally be here! I even had them make a countdown calendar so they could see how many days were left. Plus it helped to prepare them and teach them about the sacrament. We had this day planned for months prior to any notification of bed rest or pregnancy. Aaron's brother who is a priest stationed in France had a planned visit to the States for August and just so happened that it would work out to have him do the baptism. We were so honored to have him baptize our sons! Even ... view the post
