I promise I have not abandoned the blog, although you may have noticed a bit of a fade in my writing habits. Summer is flying by and as you can see the blog has taken a brief backseat to the sunshine and summer fun. We just returned from a vacation with my family at the lake celebrating over the 4th of July. I am not sure how much history was imparted as we talked to our sons about what the 4th of July is. Although they now know that it includes fireworks, flags, a party and America. Spending time at the lake is always a time I look forward to every year starting in January and even more so this year as we ... view the post
They Call Him Daddy!
I have to follow up my Mother's Day post with a special tribute to my other half. The man who has held me up, comforted me, served me, been my rock and continually leads me spiritually. The one who is the father to our children, aka daddy!! The boys love their daddy so much and follow him everywhere when he is home! Wanting to be involved and trying to help out in all of his yard work, gardening, car maintenance and whatever else needs work around the house. One thing I didn't realize when we became parents is how much more I would fall in love with my husband seeing him shine as a father. His ever present ... view the post
The Things They Say
Holding up our enormous rhubarb. E: Look at our umbrellas! Catechesis on the playground. After being at adoration that morning and pointing out the Blessed Sacrament to the boys. K: So God is a circle? Ethan picking dandelions for his chalk made pizza. K: Leave some, don't pick too many. They look nice. Looking at our bikes and comparing the sizes. E: Mommy's butt is too big for our bikes. Driving in the van and asking randomly. K: Are their bedrooms in heaven? Me: Hmm...I am not sure. K: I am going to sleep in Jesus' bed! During our bedtime prayers. Me: Anything you boys would like to pray ... view the post
Through Another Lens
Apologies for the lag in my blogging habits the past two weeks. I will try to improve my efforts and not let it become a summertime habit. I am breaking from my normal format and linking to a Go Fund Me page, because this just pulls at my heart too much to let it pass by. A place where we were just 5 months ago and a place that will forever be a part of our lives. On June 3 Ghana was hit with a massive flood, leaving more than a hundred dead, numerous homeless and many left with nothing As I sit here and wonder if I should post this I can't help but think of the surplus we have in our country, the wealth, ... view the post
Carefree Summer
It may have not felt like summer with a cool 48 degrees, but it didn't keep us from sitting through nine innings and eating ice cream! The weekends are filling up fast and I have no doubt the summer will fly by like all of the rest always seem to do. Most summers I go into with a list of things I want to accomplish, do, see or get done, but this year is different. I don't have a set list of expectations or a bucket list, I just simply want to live in the moment and make memories. Lots and lots of memories! I want to fill our days with carefree time as a family that allows us to make last minute plans or be ... view the post
