While most people were either sleeping in or shopping for the latest prized gadget or electronic, we found ourselves having a different experience Black Friday. The first and perhaps last Black Friday shopping for my husband, unless Menards can prove otherwise. Really it wasn't painful, just way more traffic, people and lines than I would otherwise care to experience, especially when there are still 20 days to get my shopping done. Our morning was filled with picking out bunk beds and testing out a few mattresses to find the perfect comfort level. We also found ourselves assessing the left over space to room ratio. ... view the post
7 Years!
Today we celebrate our 7th Wedding Anniversary!!! So incredibly hard to believe that it has already been seven years!! Not sure how I will react when we reach the decade mark, I guess we aren't newlyweds anymore! It seems like yesterday, yet it's hard to imagine my life before he was in it. Looking at our wedding pictures we look like kids, so young with the world set before us. Filled with so many dreams and completely unaware of how God would shape us, form us and draw us into a deeper union. For some reason this anniversary seems much more emotional for me than years past. It's more than just a ... view the post
Deer Camp
While my husband was away at deer camp I enjoyed my own version. Thankful his was a successful one, which means I will be feeding my family venison once again this year. If you happen to be a dinner guest and wild game isn't your culinary choice, know I am happy to accommodate with a tame option. I will let you judge for yourself, but in my humble opinion my version of deer camp was a wee more fun, hands down, 110%. Not to mention a lot less cold and way more sleep. A few highlights included lunch dates with my mom and siblings at an adorable bistro, pre-Christmas and window shopping at some lovely boutiques and ... view the post
7 Takes, Pre-Holiday
1. It may be a bit premature to be talking holidays already in the Quick Takes, but let the holidays commence! (For those who are more sensitive to the stress that comes with it, we will call it pre-holiday.) It is officially deer hunting season, 3 plus houses have Christmas lights on and we have begun the spontaneous caroling!! (And if you aren't familiar with the movie, no this is not our house.) 2. Helping the hubs get ready for deer camp, which includes washing his clothes in a special soap, spraying it with deer "scent" and practicing his call!? All of the extra attention that goes into getting ... view the post
In My Dreams
A few months ago I had a dream of our little boys running up to me, arms out stretched yelling "mama", falling into my embrace and laying their head on my heart. I didn't want to open my eyes. The moment was far too beautiful and all too real. I just wanted to stay in it and capture the image forever in my memory. So many years I have wondered, imagined and dreamed of having children, creating a family. Picturing how our life would look with little ones in it. Although the picture is different than what I thought of seven years ago, it is just as beautiful and just as loved! Years filled with dreaming are now ... view the post
