So you may call this post, cliche-cliche, but I feel it's a good opportunity to express gratefulness, which I know I don't do as often as I should. It seems as the years go by and the older I get I grow in appreciation for this holiday as we celebrate Independence Day. Political parties and voting aside, we are truly blessed to live in the great USA, built on sacrifice and service of those who have gone before us. People from diverse cultures coming together seeking the American dream. In thanksgiving for freedom and religious liberty and for those who have preserved and ensured these rights. Wishing everyone ... view the post
Dog Days
They call them the dog days of summer and lately I have felt a little of the laziness set in. Setting goals for myself, but letting ice cream, sleeping in and excuses get the best of me. Falling into the viscous cycle and repeat. Allowing guilt to set in as I struggle and try to get back to a regular exercise routine. This past weekend we went for an hour plus bike ride and upon getting home felt our legs mold into jello! So we decided to try and walk it off with a short stroll. As we started our jaunt down the driveway I suggested we run. Of course my husband agreed and commented on how he never hears those words ... view the post
7 Takes, Vacay Style
1. I thought I would expand on the weekend get-away theme, since my husband thinks I missed a few highlights from the picturesque views. Linking up with Jen for my seven. Hang with me to the end for a sweet surprise! 2. Be sure of this, plan a vacation and you are guaranteed it will rain, all day rain, all night rain, I guess when it rains, it pours. 3. If I ever need a lesson in humility, I know where to turn. We decided to take our chances in between the all too frequent rain showers and try our hand at some mini-golf. I grew up golfing, took lessons as a youngster and played throughout junior high and high ... view the post
Beach Ready
I have mentioned in the past my disdain for swimsuit shopping and that says a lot coming from a girl who loves to shop! I fully blame Eve for the complex and anxiety it causes. Hearing that it's swimsuit season as our culture defines it, can be like nails on a chalkboard. For many women it overshadows the joy and fun that should really come with summer, as we are consumed with trying to fit in a suit. While growing up it seemed the only option for a bathing suit was itsy-bitsy. It was next to impossible to find an alternative that didn't make you look like you were preparing for a swim meet or just turned ... view the post
Savor the Sweetness
Having been feeling the stress of life and the adoption process lately, we decided to get away from it all for a long weekend. Just the two of us, a little respite and lots of laughter. Renewing ourselves and allowing our minds and hearts to be at rest, just living in and enjoying the moment. A few views from the needed R&R. A view of the village life along the shoreline. Above the trees in a 75 foot tower. A little scared walking up, but the view was breathtaking. Casually acting like I am not scared of heights. Notice how small the boat looks below. Still enjoying the waterfront view even when it rained on ... view the post
