This past weekend my mother in-law passed away. Needless to say this week has been a whirlwind and I haven’t found the time or energy yet to sit down and write a meaningful reflection on her passing. So for this week I thought I would just share another edition of the things my kiddos say.
If you haven’t done so already I encourage you to find a notebook and record some of the sweet quotes and quips from your children. Not too long ago I sat down with my older sons and read them some of their words from five years back, it had all of us laughing. Hope these make you smile. Happy weekend!!
While driving for school pickup.
Me: What does green mean?
Caden: Go!
Me: What does red mean?
Caden: Stop!
Me: What does yellow mean?
Caden: Quick, hurry up and turn!
Grace: Oh Briella, I love you! You are made in the image of God!
Me: (picking up Grace) Grace, you are beautiful and made in the image of God.
Grace: All the girls are made in the image of God.
Me: Well, everyone is made in the image of God.
Grace: No, just the girls are made in God’s image. King Herod made the boys!
Grace and I laying next to Caden as he settled in for a nap.
Caden: Oh I love my two girls so much!
Making brussel sprouts with bacon for dinner.
Kolbe: Mom, I am not sure what I think about this bacon thing and brussel sprouts. I just think you really need to respect the bacon.
Eating his soup.
Caden: Mom after I am done eating this, can I have more?
Me: Yes, of course.
Caden: Oh yeah! Let’s go!!
Grace: Hmm, let me try and zoom in on you.
Taking her glasses off and repositioning them as she looks at me across the room.
Grace: Oh my gosh, you are fat!
Caden: Thank you mom for using your manners.
Grace pretending to be a teenager on her “cell” phone.
Grace: Oh my goodness, my mom is trying to call me like a million times. I know what I will do, I will just lock my calls from her.
Caden: I will get a phone when I am 17.
(pause)
Caden: Let’s go, I am almost 17!
Looking at a picture of Jesus being taken down from the cross.
Kolbe: Mom, which one is Joseph of Arimathea in the picture?
Me: I don’t think either of them.
Ethan: He was probably still busy renting the tomb.
Aaron having given himself a haircut the night before.
Caden: You look brand new this morning Dad.
Giving our final respects before they closed the coffin.
